We are Ombudsman Services: Property, set up to sort out complaints about chartered surveying firms, surveyors, estate agents, residential managing agents and other property professionals from consumers using their services.
We were originally set up ito handle complaints about members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Until April 2010 we were called the Surveyors Ombudsman Service.
We have been approved by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) as an estate agent redress scheme.
In November 2009 the Association of Residential Managing Agents (ARMA) made it a requirement for its members to belong to an ombudsman scheme and recommended Ombudsman Services: Property.
Ombudsman Services: Property is free and independent to use. We consider complaints fairly. We listen to both sides and look at the facts.
Ombudsman Services: Property can only look at your problem if one of our members is involved so it is very important that you check this first.
A list of our members is available on our website or you can check with the property professional you are complaining about. If it is a member of our scheme it may also display the Ombudsman Services: Property logo in its office or shop window or on its website.
